Do you know what the leading causes of home fires are in the United States?  Most fires in homes are caused by cooking.  The second most common fire cause is a faulty heating system.  An electrical malfunction is the third leading cause of fires.  Open flames in or around a home are the fourth leading cause.  Finally, intentional fires are the fifth leading cause of house fires.  Here are some fire statistics:

1.  The average number of residential fires each year is 374,000.

2.  The average number of deaths each year due to house fires is 2,600.

3.  The average number of injuries due to fire each year is 13,000.

4.  The average annual dollar lose due to residential fires is $7.32 billion.
